Developed by The Reading Agency in partnership with Libraries, the theme for this year is Story Garden - Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors - and it's all about taking reading to the great outdoors.
About this year's challenge
How to take part
Between Saturday 5 July and Saturday 13 September, children will be able to join for free in any Hillingdon Library.
Visit a library and borrow books at least 4 times during the summer (we recommend aiming to read at least 6 books).
Collect the reward stickers as you borrow books - there are 4 visits to complete.
Please note: Children wishing to take part will need to be a member of Hillingdon libraries - joining is free and easy.

Prize draw

Join us to share your amazing reading adventures with Story Garden. There will also be an opportunity to get creative - make a colourful collage, write your very own story, or share a dazzling book review. Open to families.
Poet and entertainer, Justin Coe, brings the wild inside with a not-so-common garden variety of wacky wordplay, silly stories, puppet-enhanced verse and interactive fun and games. Open to 3 to 11-year-olds and their families.
Come along to your local children's centre for a very special outdoor experience. There will be songs, stories and natural craft activities using twigs, leaves and flowers. Open to 4 to 7-year-olds.
Join Kid and Pinto - 2 curious seedologists on a quest to discover new specimens. The performance will last around 40 minutes, followed by a seed planting session. Everyone welcome, particularly children aged 7 and under.
Join us for a special outdoor storytime in Court Park where we will be reading nature-inspired stories and singing along to our favourite rhymes in the great outdoors. Open to over-3s and their families.
