This year's Summer Reading Challenge takes place from Saturday 5 July to Saturday 13 September.
Developed by The Reading Agency in partnership with Libraries, the theme for this year is Story Garden - Adventures in Nature and the Great Outdoors - and it's all about taking reading to the great outdoors.
Volunteers needed
Are you 14 to 17-years-old and living or studying in Hillingdon? Do you want to gain valuable work experience, boost your confidence and make a difference in your community? Join us as a Summer Reading Challenge volunteer.
As a volunteer, you'll help sign up participants, chat with children about the books they're reading, hand out rewards and support fun activities in your library.
It's a great way to develop communication and teamwork skills - and it looks great on your CV or college application!
Come along to one of our information evenings to find out more:
Thursday 12 June, 4.30pm to 6.30pm at Uxbridge Library
Tuesday 17 June, 4.30pm to 6.30pm at Ruislip Manor Library
Monday 23 June, 4.30pm to 6.30pm at Botwell Green Library
Between Saturday 5 July and Saturday 13 September, children will be able to join for free in any Hillingdon Library.
Visit a library and borrow books at least 4 times during the summer (we recommend aiming to read at least 6 books). For each visit, children will get an entry into a prize draw (which they can win if they complete 4 visits).
Collect the reward stickers as you borrow books - there are 4 visits to complete.
Please note: Children wishing to take part will need to be a member of Hillingdon libraries - joining is free and easy.
