Compass Theatre

The Compass Theatre is a small, council-run and volunteer-operated arts centre, providing local residents and visitors with great value entertainment and performing arts classes.

  • Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cold soft drinks, wines, beers, spirits, ice creams and snacks
  • Opens 45 minutes before a show start and again during the interval
  • Accepts cash, credit cards and debit cards

Accessibility

The Compass Theatre is accessible by wheelchair and has:

  • disabled badge holder car parking space for up to 3 cars
  • 2 dedicated wheelchair spaces inside the auditorium on the front row
  • accessible toilet facilities.

The auditorium is fitted with an induction loop for those with hearing difficulties.

Free tickets are available for essential carers on request and assistance dogs are welcome.

Backstage, there is a disabled toilet and a disabled lift (from ground floor to the backstage corridor), enabling performers in wheelchairs to access the stage.


Ickenham Hall

Located in its grounds is Ickenham Hall - a grade II listed Georgian mansion, which was originally the home of John Crosier and his family.

The Compass Theatre offers a number of different rooms and spaces to hire for a variety of uses and occasions.

Parking

  • Onsite parking - there is limited parking outside the theatre. Spaces are used by staff, volunteers, production companies, visitors and include 3 exclusively for Blue Badge holders.
  • Ickenham Station car park - opposite the theatre, there is 24-hour paid parking.

Please note: There are parking restriction measures in place on the roads around the theatre.


  • Compass Kidz / Compass Teenz - weekly performing arts classes for 4 to 16-year-olds. Sessions run in term-time, after-school on Thursdays, and on Saturday mornings.  
  • Compass Totz (from September) - 30-minute musical 'adventure' classes on Saturday mornings for 3 to 4-year-olds.  
  • Commercial Dance (from September) - 30-minute street, commercial and jazz dance classes, for ages 5 to 12.  
  • Compass Puppet Club - welcoming new and experienced puppet makers and puppeteers to learn and improve skills and plan for future performances. For 14-year-olds and over (or younger with an accompanying adult), the club meets on Saturdays from 2pm to 4pm 
  • Curtain Up - monthly volunteer-run play reading sessions.
  • Indian Music and Dance (PRSSV) - interactive classes in Indian classical music and dance, where equal emphasis is placed on learning to perform, as well as the theory behind the particular art form.(Ickenham Hall) 
  • Stage Talent Academy - various after-school and weekend music lessons in piano, guitar, singing, violin, music theory, ukulele lessons and more. (Ickenham Hall) 
  • Stars at Knight - School of Speech and Drama - Saturday morning sessions (during term time), covering challenging drama games, mime, voice, script work, stagecraft and improvisations, plus script reading and learning, rehearsal technique and preparation for presentations and shows, and masterclasses. (Ickenham Hall) 
  • Violin Group - a Saturday morning group class, taught by Susan MacKillican, for young violinists. (Ickenham Hall) 
  • WEA - Adult Learning Within Reach - courses in various subjects for adults. (Ickenham Hall)
