Community Planting Day at Spider Park
We are excited to welcome local volunteers to a planting day at the newly restored section of river at Spider Park.
As the river restoration work at Spider Park (funded through Smarter Water Catchments and HS2) nears completion - project partners London Borough of Hillingdon and the Zoological Society of London are excited to invite local volunteers to help put the finishing touches on things and join us for a day of planting.
Works to improve and restore more natural river form at the river at Spider Park began in January and include the creation of meanders, a two-stage river bank, addition of large wood deflectors and gravels to enhance the ecological function, benefit wildlife and improve the space for the community.
It will be a muddy, hands-on day helping to plant wetland plug plants along the river banks and transform Spider Park.
- the event will be starting at 10am at the river. The closest tube station is Ruislip Gardens (about a 5 min walk to the river) and the meeting point will be here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/1oJMkEtL75g1aJDDA
- the event organizers will be providing snacks but please bring your own lunch and water
- please bring suitable clothing (long trousers - there will be lots of kneeling down), sturdy footwear and clothes that you don't mind getting muddy
- The event organizers will be providing all the other kit (gardening gloves, planting equipment)
There are limited spaces available, so please register if you would like to join.
